Tri Delta ♥’s St. Jude!

All throughout the country Tri Deltas have concentrated their philanthropic support toward Children’s Cancer Research. Nationally, Tri Delta has formed a partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee since 1999. At St. Jude, the doctors and researchers are responsible for the care of children with life threatening cases of cancer and other terminal illnesses. We have events that we organize in the fall and spring semesters to raise money for St. Jude and awareness of Children’s Cancer.

Tri Delta has made many goals to raise money for St. Jude. We started a goal in 2002 to raise $1 million to endow the hospital’s Teen Room. In January 2005, Tri Delta reached its $1 million goal, a full year ahead of schedule. In July 2006, Tri Delta made a commitment to raise $10 million in 10 years to name the Patient Care Floor in the Chili’s Care Center. In May 2010, we reached this goal 4 years ahead of schedule. In July 2010, Tri Delta announced its third naming commitment, a challenge to raise $15 million in 5 years to name the Specialty C-Clinic located in the Patient Care Center. This January 2014, Tri Delta complete this goal in 3.5 years.

Epsilon Gamma’s Events

Fall Semester

Sincerely Yours Letter Writing

This event challenges each chapter members to send letters to family, friends and neighbors encouraging them to make a contribution to St. Jude. The letters, envelopes, and postage are provided by St. Jude . We all go to the chapter house with our address list and spend time filling out the letters and envelopes. Sincerely Yours is our event that raises the most money for St. Jude!

Delta Dodgeball

This is our dodgeball tournament that is open to all the EIU Greek chapters on campus. It is held in the Library Quad or MacAfee Gym right on campus. This is an event were you can get competitive for a great cause!

Spring Semester

Can Shaking

Can Shaking is when we set up outside our local WalMart to get the community involved in donating to St. Jude. We provide the community with information about St. Jude and why St. Jude is so close to our hearts.

Be the Hero Run

This event is a 5k walk/run where we get sisters, EIU Greek Life, friends, family, and community involved. This run is head to celebrate St. Jude Awareness Month at the end of March.

Twist of HOPE

A big twister tournament that we have on our front yard at the Chapter House. Greek houses, campus organizations, friends, and family all participate. We like to twist up the game by adding water, soap, chocolate to get the competition rolling. Why not get messy for a great cause?!

Pancakes anyone? Yes we provide our fellow Greek chapters, friends, family, and community with an all you can eat pancake breakfast just for a donation to St. Jude. Nothing sounds better than starting your morning with pancakes and St. Jude. Come on who doesn’t love pancakes?!
